St. George Regional Airport<\/strong> (SGU, KSGU) is a public, non-towered airport located 5 miles SE of St. George, in Washington County, Utah. This airport is owned and operated by the city of St. George. There is one runway as follows:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

FBOs & Services<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Million Air<\/a><\/strong> with Freeman Holdings Group<\/strong> is a full-service FBO<\/strong> located just north of the airline terminal. They offer rapid refueling, lavatory service, tie-downs, and oxygen. Also offered are aircraft cleaning, certified mechanics for airframe and powerplant, and concierge services. This facility is big and bold, with a pilot lounge, quiet room, conference room, and flight-planning area with internet.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Sandstone Aviation<\/a><\/strong> FBO<\/strong> is in Building 52G, where they offer AvGas, Jet-A fuel, and aircraft maintenance\/repair from the veteran-owned Red Mountain Aero<\/strong>. Other amenities include oxygen, short- and long-term parking, and a private passenger lounge. They also offer both plane and car rentals.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The flight school Sandstone Aviation<\/strong> operates on this field.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

American<\/strong>, Delta, <\/strong>and United Airlines<\/strong> provide commercial flights, and SkyWest Airlines<\/strong> is headquartered here.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Transportation<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

A courtesy car is available from the Sandstone Aviation FBO<\/strong>. Rental cars can be ordered from either FBO or on your own. Find Enterprise<\/strong>, Hertz<\/strong>, and Nationa<\/strong>l at the airport, with Budget, Alamo<\/strong>, and Avis<\/strong> in town.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

There are several taxi companies and shuttle services in the area. Uber<\/strong> is also available here. USA Taxi<\/strong> has the best ratings. Color Country Cab Co.<\/strong> and St. George Shuttle<\/strong> have very mixed reviews, so I guess it depends on the day.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Where To Stay Near St. George Regional Airport<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

There is everything from the four-star Advenire, Autograph Collection<\/a><\/strong>, with fine dining, a bar and lounge, and a hot tub to Holiday Inn St. George<\/strong><\/a>, @HOME by Best Western<\/a><\/strong>, Red Roof Inn<\/a><\/strong>, and La Quinta<\/strong><\/a>. Most rooms are fairly inexpensive here. Especially compared to the last airport I researched, which was New Haven, CT. Talk about a world of difference. As the realtors say, “It’s all about location, location, location.” Considering the scenery around here, these rooms should be more expensive.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

If you’re looking for something closer to Zion National Park<\/strong> or Bryce Canyon<\/strong> and an outdoor adventure (tent or campground), visit Bookabach.com<\/a><\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

St. George is the place where serious athletes come to compete. Ultra Marathons<\/strong> and the legendary course for the Intermountain Healthcare IRONMAN 70.3 North American Championship<\/strong> are here.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

If you aren’t a serious athlete (or any athlete), there is still plenty to see and do. St. George is the closest airport to Zion National Park<\/strong>. Bryce Canyon<\/strong> and Crimson Slot Canyon<\/strong> are less than an hour away by car. There are rappelling, sunset jeep tours, a waterfall near a desert, horseback riding, and dinosaur tracks along the way. You can find Zion balloon trips<\/strong><\/a>, kayak trips<\/strong><\/a>, and all kinds of Zion UTV Tours<\/strong><\/a>, offered on Viator.com<\/strong><\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Where To Eat\/Drink<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Jet-A-Way Cafe<\/strong> is located inside Million Air FBO<\/strong> as of September 2025.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

You can also grab a bite at the Tailwind<\/strong> Restaurant inside the terminal.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The closest drink is probably the Silver Reef Brewing Company<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Cliffside Restaurant<\/strong><\/a> has great reviews. Stunning views and great food make it special. For good old American comfort food, try the Black Bear Diner<\/a><\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The sombrero goes off to Angelica’s Mexican Grill<\/a><\/strong> for south-of-the-border cuisine. There is also the Benja Thai Garden<\/strong> for Thai and sushi. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Why Fly Here?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

St. George is a fast-growing small city in the southwest corner of Utah, just north of the Arizona line. It is bordered on the north by the Pine Valley Mountains and sits at the most northeast part of the Mojave Desert. St. George Regional<\/strong> drops you right into the red\u2011rock drama of Utah\u2019s canyon country. Approaches are smooth, the airfield is modern and efficient, and you\u2019re minutes from Zion, Snow Canyon, and some of the Southwest\u2019s most striking landscapes. It’s only 118 miles from Las Vegas and 300 miles from Salt Lake City. If you get bored, you can just pick another direction.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Everyone should visit Zion National Park<\/strong> at least once in their lifetime.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
