Additionally, on\u2011field services include Dayton Aviation Services<\/strong> for flight training, simulator training (Elite PI-135XTS), and aircraft rental, an active EAA Chapter 48 community, and a CareFlight<\/strong> medical helicopter base. No major airframe or powerplant maintenance is available on the field.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This Airpark serves travelers headed to the Dayton region and is recognized for its friendly, community-driven atmosphere and scenic riverfront setting along the Great Miami River.<\/strong> With the active EAA Chapter 48,<\/strong> this field is known for multiple fly\u2011ins throughout the year, including the long\u2011running Funday Sunday Fly\u2011In<\/strong> on the first Sunday in May every year. Moraine offers a welcoming gateway for recreational pilots and aviation enthusiasts alike.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Moraine sits in one of the most historically significant aviation regions in the world, and its story stretches far beyond the airpark\u2019s 1955 opening. Just north of the field, the Wright Brothers<\/strong> tested early seaplane concepts along the Miami River<\/strong> in 1907, laying the groundwork for the experimental spirit that still defines the area today. The region also played a major role in producing the De Havilland DH\u20114<\/strong>, the only American\u2011built combat aircraft to serve in World War I<\/strong>, giving Moraine a direct link to America\u2019s earliest military aircraft.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A crew car is available on the field from the FBO during attended hours. As with most small GA fields, it\u2019s first\u2011come, first\u2011served. Moraine Air Park, Inc.<\/strong> can also arrange rental cars through Dayton-area providers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Both Uber<\/strong> and Lyft<\/strong> operate here, as well as a local taxi service. However, the local taxi service had a 1-star rating and operated from a hotel. So, I guess maybe somebody was trying, but I would try my luck with a rideshare company.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Things To Do Nearby<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Carillon Historical Park<\/a><\/strong> is one of Dayton\u2019s signature attractions and sits on the south side of the city, just a few minutes from Moraine. It\u2019s a 65\u2011acre open\u2011air museum with historic buildings and transportation exhibits. The Wright Brothers National Museum<\/strong> is located there and houses the original 1905 Wright Flyer III<\/strong>, the only airplane designated a National Historic Landmark. Just north of this park is the University of Dayton<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The National Museum of the U.S. Air Force<\/a><\/strong> is one of the most significant aviation museums in the world and an easy drive from Moraine Airpark. You can explore early Wright\u2011era aircraft, presidential planes, and Cold War icons in massive, photo\u2011friendly hangars.
