Welcome to John C. Tune Airport

John C. Tune Airport (JWN) offers a smooth, easygoing entry point into Nashville, giving charter travelers, flight crews, and private pilots a calm place to land just minutes from the city’s energy. The airport’s modern, rebuilt facilities feel fresh and welcoming, and its location on the west side puts you close to The Nations, Music Row, and downtown without the traffic and intensity of BNA. It’s a convenient, polished gateway that lets you slip into Nashville with far less friction.

There is one primary runway (rebuilt after the 2020 tornado).

What Makes John C. Tune Airport Special

John C. Tune Airport has a character all its own — a modern, thoughtfully rebuilt campus that feels polished without being overwhelming. It’s a place where charter travelers and crews can move easily, with a layout designed for quick turns, smooth operations, and a quieter experience than you’ll find at BNA. The airport’s west‑side setting adds to its appeal, offering a relaxed gateway that still keeps you close to Nashville’s most popular neighborhoods and attractions.

A courtesy car is often available from the FBO for short local trips, though availability varies based on demand. Crews should call ahead to confirm.

Rental Cars Contour can coordinate rental cars directly through major providers, and advance arrangements are recommended during busy Nashville event weeks. Travelers may also use Carla Car Rental to compare regional rental options and check availability across the area.

Rideshares & Taxis: Yellow Cab Metro Inc., 1-615-256-0101, is the general taxi service here, though unless they are already waiting, they do seem to take longer than Uber or Lyft. Both of those rideshare options serve this airport.

Vehicle parking is next to the FBO on a first-come, first-served basis, but there is no charge.

If you’re looking for luxury in a hotel, my favorite is the Gaylord Opryland Resort and Convention Center. There are higher-rated places available, but the atmosphere here is top-notch. Even with hundreds of people inside, the water makes this a relaxing haven. Some of the food choices could use improvement, but this is a beautiful property.

Other choices include the historic Hermitage Hotel, The Four Seasons Hotel Nashville, The Joseph, a Luxury Collection, the modern Conrad Nashville, and 1 Hotel Nashville.

Where To Stay Near John C. Tune Airport

Sitting closest to the airport is the Holiday Inn Express Nashville W I-40/Whitebridge Rd. and the Comfort Inn Nashville West. The Holiday Inn Express offers an airport shuttle, both have free breakfast, and allow pets; however, Comfort Inn limits your creature comforts to 20lbs.

If a pool is important on your trip, the Best Western Plus Belle Meade Inn & Suites is also just under 3 miles from this airport.

Things to Do Nearby

Downtown Nashville is normally 10-12 minutes away, depending on traffic. There is easy access to Broadway/Honky Tonk Highway, Bridgestone Arena, Ryman Auditorium, and SoBro museums.

Closer to the airport is Centennial Park & The Parthenon, Nashville’s iconic urban park, home to the full‑scale Parthenon replica. Also nearby is the Bicentennial Capitol Mall State Park, which is beautifully designed and showcases Tennessee’s history with monuments, fountains, and views of the Capitol. There’s a Farmers’ Market next to the park to add some local flavor.

For just enjoying the day, you can walk around The Nations, which is a trendy neighborhood in West Nashville full of local restaurants, breweries, coffee shops, and boutiques.

As you can see by the center aerial view, you’re never too far from the Cumberland River. There are numerous places downtown to enjoy the waterfront.
