Wellington Municipal Airport, Wellington KS (FAA: EGT, KEGT) is a public use, city owned, non-towered airport located 3 miles north of Wellington, KS in Sumner County. It has one runway listed in good condition which runs parallel to a highway (Highway 81) at an elevation of 1,277 ft. There’s a lighted beacon that operates from sunset to sunrise.

There is both self serve AVGas and a fuel truck with Jet A. There is someone at the field from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. M-F. Parking is ramp or tiedown only. There is no oxygen available but there is both major airframe and major powerplant services listed.
During business hours there is a passenger terminal and lounge, pilot lounge/snooze room, computerized weather, phone, internet services, and restrooms.

If you’re in general aviation or the commercial side of aviation and are visiting Wellington, Kansas it’s probably for a specific reason. However, you might not know of all the other aviation businesses operating here. This little Kansas town might have just what you need. Aviation businesses in the general area are as follows:

Where To Play
The things to do list is longer than you might think for a flatland Kansas town. Wellington is home to the Panhandle Railroad Museum, the National Depression Glass Museum, and the Chisholm Trail Museum in the historic Hatcher Hospital building.
Wellington is also home to several very nice outdoor spaces. Including, Hargis Creek Watershed for fishing, (including boat ramps), the Rock Island Ball Fields, Sellers Park (tennis courts & baseball stadium), and the Wellington Lake Recreation Area. There is also Woods Park (disc golf & sand volleyball) and Wordon Park (softball, soccer, & football fields).
The Wellington City Lake is about 6 miles west of town on US 160 then 4 miles south on Anson Rd. This is the place for fishing, boating, and camping, permits required. Crappie, Walleye, Largemouth Bass, Channel Cat, Wiper, and Flathead are all found here. You can also rent a duck blind here for Fall hunting season.
The other great outdoor space in Wellington is the Wellington Golf Club. This is a public 18-hole course.
Where To Eat
Penny’s Diner and The Dore Grill & Bar are both American standard cuisine. Canelo’s Mexican Grill & Bar and Fabiola’s Restaurant are both well known for Mexican food.
The No. 7 Coffee House is a cozy little spot that comes highly recommended for the best cinnamon rolls in town. They also serve sandwiches, soups, salads, and all types of coffee and teas. Open Tues.- Sat. 7:00 a.m to 2:00 p.m., closed Sunday & Monday.
Where To Grab A Cold One.
The local watering hole seems to be the Last Stop Pub and Grub. There is also, The Dore, Canelo’s, and Andy’s D3 Grill and Bar.
In Conclusion
This small town has a huge footprint in the Aerospace industry! If you need something, it just might be here. If not it’s still a nice fuel stop and a good place to stretch your legs.
