Landmarks and the Technical Part
Caldwell, Idaho (KEUL, EUL) The Caldwell Executive Airport is considered part of the Boise metropolitan area. However, it lacks the Boise and Nampa traffic. Located three miles SE of the city of Caldwell, Caldwell Executive Airport is a full service airport owned by the city of Caldwell. There is one asphalt runway 5500 x 100 ft.
The airfield is home to the Silverhawk Aviation Academy, Midfield Aviation, and has its own restaurant. Both AVGas and JetA (- +) are available on the field.
Caldwell is the county seat for Canyon County and the home of the College of Idaho. It is also home to the famous Caldwell Night Rodeo every August and the absolutely breathtaking Winter Wonderland with over a million lights!
Transport
Enterprise Rental is the only car rental company listed in Caldwell but there is a possibility of a courtesy car for aircrews. Call Midfield Aviation for info. If you are ready to go white water rafting the river shuttle at Caldwell Transportation can arrange to get you where you’re going. Take note, it’s quite a jaunt up to Stanley, Idaho but if you choose, Stanley does have it’s own small airport.
Where to go for the Finer Things!
If you decide on a winery for dinner there are options in the Snake River Valley. A couple of million years ago there were volcanoes here and it made for some pretty fertile grape growing. Ste. Chapelle Winery is beautiful and offers food selections to pair with the wine. If you stay in town and want something simpler the family restaurant Mr. V’s on 10th Ave. is a great place to go. You’re in Idaho so try something huckleberry.
For BBQ try Chop Shop BBQ in Indian Creek Plaza. For Mexican restaurants I’d try Imelda’s or Amano. Amano Restaurant is also in the Plaza and comes with pretty mixed reviews but does come recommended by family members. I was born not far from here and my sister-in-law actually took most of her pilot training hours at the Caldwell and Nampa airports. People have lots of options these days and Amano is still open so I consider that an endorsement of sorts.
Things to do in Caldwell!
Ah! Going to the the river? Going to the mountains? Either direction will give you plenty of things to do. The Boise River runs around the northwest edge of Caldwell and has plenty of guided rafting tours and fishing in both spring and summer. A popular white water rafting trip starts up northeast of Boise in Stanley, Idaho.
Skiing opportunities abound in the surrounding mountains during winter and there are excellent wineries for the rest of the year. Located in the Sunnyslope Wine Region of the beautiful Treasure Valley try the Southwest Wine Tasting Tour starting in downtown Caldwell.
Caldwell, Idaho. Nothing more beautiful than a river through the trees!
In town at the Indian Creek Plaza there is the entertainment of ‘Tuesdays on the Creek‘ from May to September. The Plaza hosts 200+ events a year including live music and the Farm to Fork Farmer’s Market.9
Lake Lowell is located by the Deer Flat National Wildlife Refuge directly south of town. Enjoy water sports, hiking, bird watching, picnics and beautiful scenery in the refuge. If you go exploring here or hike the back country a portable WiFi booster that automatically changes to the carrier with the strongest signal is a good idea. Travlfi is a great choice!
Looking for a different type of adventure? Skydiving is offered at the Caldwell airport at Sky Down Skydiving!!

Where To Stay
Hotels near here are to numerous to mention. Caldwell now sits on the outer limits of Boise as that city has grown tremendously since my childhood. Expedia.com can help you narrow it down by showing you prices and amenities.
Besides the usual fare of chain hotels there are also a few guest houses nearby. In Nampa, close to the refuge, there is the Trinity Ranch Bed and Breakfast.
