Pubs and More Pubs!

Walk down Duval Street and you can pretty much take your pick. There’s no shortage of bars or live music. Some of the most famous Key West bars are presented here but don’t limit yourself.

For history and character galore, along with your cold brew, the iconic Sloppy Joe’s is world famous. A hang out for Earnest Hemingway back in the 1930s it has become a Key West landmark.

Captain Tony’s is the favored bar of country star Kenny Chesney and the original home of Sloppy Joe’s. Dollar bills are stuck to the ceiling walls. I’ve been told that the site raised the rent by a dollar back in 1937 and that’s why Sloppy Joe’s moved to it’s present location. Yes, I would call it a dive bar but the history is cool and the drinks are cheap.

Irish Kevin’s join the party or go upstairs and just watch the party. They always have live music, an impressive beer line up, and great pub food.

Smokin’ Tuna Saloon has great music in the courtyard and wonderful local seafood. They also have the iconic Smokin’ Tuna T-Shirts which you might have seen anywhere in the world.

Hog’s Breath Saloon, once again, a bar with a world famous t-shirt, is down on Mallory Square. Eat & drink inside to escape the heat or go outside to one of the best sunset views in Florida. If you’re there the last few days of November, which is a great time to be there, you can join the 5K Hog Trot. Proceeds benefit the Florida Keys SPCA, so why not?

Probably the best way to see more than one is the Original Key West Pub Crawl: The best bars plus a free T-shirt. Have a few drinks and take home a souvenir!
