Gwinnett County Airport: (ICAO: KLZU, IATA: LZU, FAA: LZU), also known as Briscoe Field, is a public-use airport located in Lawrenceville, Georgia, owned by Gwinnett County and is forty-three miles NE of the Delta hub at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport (ATL). There is one runway (7/25) on this towered field with a grooved asphalt surface in good condition. It’s 6001 x 100 ft.
This county airport is a general aviation field with 4 flight training schools (Magnolia Aviation Academy, Advanced Aviation, Lookup Flight Academy, and ATP Flight School. Other businesses on the field include Georgia Jet Charter, Medway Air Ambulance, and the Civil Air Patrol.



Sheltair is one of the FBOs on this field that offers AvGas and Jet A with both hangar space and tiedowns as options. They provide ground support, concierge services, catering, and hotel reservations. Amenities include pilot lounges, snooze rooms, WiFi, a flight planning center, and conference rooms.

Transportation
You can find crew cars, shuttle services, or on-site Hertz Rental cars here. There is no official taxi stand at Briscoe Field, but you can contact Atlanta Checker Cab or Yellow Cab. A limousine service is available through Thrive Black. Uber and Lyft are also available.
Where To Stay
Holiday Inn Express and Suites is going to be the closest place to lay your head. Not too much farther is the Hampton Inn Lawrenceville, or the Towne Place Suites. Additional options, a bit farther away, include the Westin Atlanta Gwinnett or the Aloft Lawrenceville Sugarloaf.

Where To Eat
On-site is the Flying Machine, a down-home American-style eatery. They offer casual classics: burgers, wings, and sandwiches with a runway view.
If you want to get off-site, there is the Soho Asian Restaurant, an affordable Asian Fusion place with a loyal local following. It’s next to a Walmart Supercenter in case you need to grab anything while you’re out.
You could also choose the highly rated 4 Amigos Mexican Kitchen, with authentic flavors and a cozy atmosphere. If you’re leaning toward something a little more uptempo, try Frida’s Mexican Restaurant or La Cazuela. They are all pretty close by.
For Italian nearby, there’s a family-owned place called Biba’s Italian Restaurant known for its pizza, pasta, and garlic rolls. It’s unpretentious, cozy, and near the airport.
If you’re looking for a cold one, the Slow Pour Brewing Company is a popular local craft brewery.
Things To Do
Depending on how far you want to go and how much time you have, here are a few interesting ways to see the sites and entertain yourself. Stone Mountain is less than 20 miles from the airport and is a trip worth making. If you’ve never been there, don’t miss the chance.



The Delta Flight Museum in Atlanta traces the history of Delta Airlines with hands-on exhibits and vintage aircraft. It’s a good outing for aviation buffs.
If you are a wine aficionado or enjoy a nice day trip, sign up for a Northern Georgia Wine Country tour from Atlanta. Please book this in advance, as it is frequently sold out.
Sugarloaf Mills is the place to shop and see attractions like the Medieval Times Dinner & Tournament.
