Terre Haute Regional Airport (HUF, KHUF) is a towered public airport located about 5 miles east of downtown Terre Haute, Indiana, 6 if you’re driving. It is also known as Hulman Field. This is a GA and military field only. There is no commercial traffic here. There are 2 runways, as follows:
| Runways | Dimentions | Surface | Condition |
| 5/23 | 9,021′ x 150′ | Asphalt (grooved) | Fair |
| 14/32 | 7,200’x x150′ | Asphalt/concrete (grooved) | Fair |
Hoosier Aviation is the full-service FBO here. They have both AvGas and Jet-A, a nice pilot lounge, WiFi, lav service, catering, concierge services, de-icing, aircraft rentals, and hangars or tiedowns for parking. Bonus: They have a massage chair. Maintenance is available here via Williams Aviation.
Terre Haute is the home of Indiana State University, and the Indiana State University Flight Academy is on this field.
Also on this field are ICTT Systems Sciences (organizational problem solving and systems), S&T Fulfillment (packaging, warehousing, and distribution services), Enjet Aero/Stark Industries (CNC machining for aerospace), Tri-Aerospace LLC (engine component manufacturing), and Turbine Inc. (turbine engine services and support)
The two other important functions of this airport are being home to IU Health Lifeline (a critical care helicopter flight base) and the Terre Haute Air National Guard Base.
Transportation
There is a crew/courtesy car here listed on the FBO website. You can also arrange rentals for ground transport through Hoosier Aviation. Vehicle parking is free.
Taxi services E2 Taxi and Terre Haute Cab Service, as well as Uber, are all available. Honestly, I would choose Uber after reading online reviews for both taxi services. There are both good and bad reviews, but it seems like a crapshoot.

Things To Do

Depending on the time of year you visit, activities may be limited to indoors. Indoor activities include:
- Candles Holocaust Museum & Education Center – Founded by survivor Eva Kor, it shares powerful lessons on forgiveness and resilience. If you can’t visit, at least watch the video on their website.
- Veterans Memorial Museum of Terre Haute – The museum is not large, but it’s well thought out with nice displays and wonderful old photos. The Memorial honors local veterans from WWI to the present. Admission is free, and the door is open on Saturdays.
- Eugene V. Debs Museum – Preserves the home of the famous labor leader, socialist, and one-time presidential candidate. The house is now located on the grounds of Indiana State University, and admission is free.
- Swope Art Museum – The museum is undergoing a year-long renovation and is temporarily closed. It will reopen in 2026. Free admission, featuring works by Grant Wood, Edward Hopper, and Andy Warhol.
- Indiana Theatre – On the National Register of Historic Places. A 1922 architectural gem that still hosts performances, but as of November 2025, is under renovation. Drive by to get a look at the outside if you are an architecture buff. It’s beautiful, I hope the inside lives up to the outside when it’s finished.
- Terre Haute Children’s Museum – Three floors of hands-on, interactive exhibits for education and fun.
- Vigo County History Center – A must-see for Coca-Cola memorabilia fans. You can also see Stiffy Green the Bulldog. He’s a local legend and ghost story.
- Larry Bird Museum – Sports fans around the world can dig into the legend of the state “Bird” of Indiana.
One of the best outdoor activities is to walk around downtown. There are over 25 murals and public art displays that bring the city to life. The city is also filled with parks for everything from frisbee golf to nationally recognized (Griffin Bike Park) mountain bike trails. The Wabash Riverfront and Wabashiki Wetlands are nature at its finest.
And, there’s always golf. The Hulman Links golf course is an 18-hole course.
Why Fly Here?
HUF isn’t just an airport — it’s a multi‑use campus with education, healthcare, military, and aerospace industries operating alongside the FBO. The City of Terre Haute blends history, culture, and quirky Americana along the banks of the Wabash River. Pilots, crews, and passengers will find easy access via Terre Haute Regional Airport (HUF), just minutes from downtown.
As always, safe flights and safer landings,
