Nantucket Memorial Airport (ACK) is a public, towered airport located 3 miles SE of Nantucket’s town center on the south side of Nantucket Island in Nantucket County. There are two runways as follows:

The tower is staffed daily from 6:00 a.m to 10:00 p.m. May 15 through September 30. During the off- season, they cease operations at 9:00 p.m.

There is commercial traffic here year-round through Cape Air. Seasonal flights operate through JetBlue, Delta, United, American, Tradewind Aviation, and Gull Air. Nantucket Memorial Airport is also a major charter destination with multiple operators.

The airport runs the full-service FBO. They have AvGas, Jet-A, ramp and landing services, GPU and lav service, cleaning, catering, and if you buy 10 gallons of fuel, they will waive the $11 ramp fee. Parking is tiedowns with limited hangar availability.

Transportation

There are no courtesy or crew cars available here; however, three rental car companies are located inside the terminal near the Crosswind Restaurant. Carla Car Rental will compare all available car rental sites to find you the best deal.

Taxis are curbside, and both Uber and Lyft operate here with designated pickup/drop-off areas.

For public transportation, the Nantucket Regional Transit Authority’s THE WAVE will take you downtown and bring you back to the airport. It runs approximately every 30 minutes.

If you are staying awhile, visit the wharf area, and you can catch a ferry to Hyannis (Cape Cod), New Bedford, Harwich Port, or Martha’s Vineyard. Some routes have high-speed ferries, and some are only seasonal.

The Nantucket Inn sits closest to the airport, offering full‑service convenience just off Airport Road.

For travelers who want to be near town, The Nantucket Hotel & Resort (in the Brant Point neighborhood) delivers upscale comfort with strong amenities and easy access to the island’s historic core. Nantucket Guest House provides a quieter, more intimate stay, while Greydon House brings a boutique style to the downtown area with great Italian dining. There is also a great collection of boutique hotels called the Nantucket Resort Collection, and the hotel Pippa has a great central location.

For classic island charm, in the downtown area, Cliff Lodge Bed & Breakfast offers a landmark 1771 setting with harbor views and a rooftop deck. Or, there is the 1845 mansion, Jared Coffin House, with elegant rooms and an onsite steakhouse.

Where To Eat and Drink

Inside the terminal, you will find the Crosswinds Restaurant with a full menu and reasonable prices. Just a short drive from the airport is the Island Kitchen, which is a local favorite for its made-from-scratch comfort foods.

For casual Italians, near the airport, try Fusaro’s. Pasta, seafood, and hearty classics are served here.

The Surfside Bakery & Cafe offers sandwiches, pastries, and coffee for a quick stop. The Downyflake is an island diner famous for doughnuts, breakfast, and comfort food.

One of the island’s most visited spots is Cisco Brewers. It’s a brewery-winery-distillery with live music and is hugely popular.

If you make it up to the wharf area where the North Atlantic invades the island, you will find more restaurants to choose from than you can count.

Things To Do

One of the best things to do is to bike the island if you’re able. Nantucket is considered one of the best biking destinations in the U.S. Another popular outdoor activity is going to the beach. Some of the most popular are Surfside, Jetties, Madaket, Siasconset, and Steps Beach. Nobadeer Beach is at the southernmost end of the runway. There are also historic walking tours (guided or self-guided) to view 18th-century homes and maritime landmarks.

If you’re a lighthouse lover, there are three on the island. These are frequently photo ops for great memories of East Coast trips. Brant Point, Sankaty Head Light, and Great Point Light are all iconic treasures of coastal life. There is a historical tour of Nantucket that lasts approximately an hour and a half.

You can see world-class exhibits on Nantucket’s whaling history at the Whaling Museum. The Nantucket Shipwreck & Lifesaving Museum explores rescues and the history of shipwrecks.
