Coastal Carolina Regional Airport (EWN, KEWN) is a towered public airport located 3 miles SE of New Bern, in Craven County, NC. There are two runways as follows:

Tidewater Air Services LLC is the full-service FBO on the field. They offer both 100LL and Jet A, have a GPU, towing, a pilot lounge/snooze room, flight planning, WiFi, catering, a full kitchen, and showers. Parking is ramp or tiedown. There is also a passenger terminal at this airport.
An on-field flight school, D2 Flight Academy, operates here as well as PilotJohn Aviation, a supplier of ground support equipment. I don’t know anyone at the D2 Flight Academy, but I’ve met most of the PilotJohn Aviation sales team at trade shows, and you won’t find nicer people. They will bend over backwards to make sure you get what you need.
Breeze Airways and American Airlines provide three non-stop commercial flights here. American flies daily to Charlotte (CLT) and Breeze flies to Orlando (MCO) and seasonally to Hartford (BDL).
Transportation
A crew car is listed, as well as available rentals through the FBO. You can grab a rental yourself inside the terminal, just past baggage claim. There is a designated rental car lot directly outside the exit doors. The current rental agencies are: Avis, Budget, Enterprise, National, and Alamo. If none of these suit your fancy, you can check Carla Car Rental to find the best deals. Vehicle parking is free for the first 15 minutes in both long and short-term parking. There is a cell phone lot.

- Tryon Riverfront Inn: Views of the Grand Marina, pets allowed, and it’s a 3-minute walk to the Riverfront Convention Center.
- DoubleTree by Hilton New Bern Riverfront: Hotel on the riverfront with a poolside bar, views of the Grand Marina, with strong reviews.
Where To Eat And Drink
Inside the terminal, only grab-and-go type snacks are available unless a seasonal vendor moves in.
Sea & Soul Bar & Grille, Beartown Bistro and Pizza Company, Taqueria San Luis, and Carolina Grill are the closest to the airport. In most places, Taqueria San Luis is a food truck; here, it is an actual building with street tacos.

Between three miles and four miles out are: Blackbeard’s Triple Play Restaurant & Bar, and Persimmons Waterfront Restaurant. Downtown, clustered together, you have a choice of Morgan’s Tavern & Grill, Baker’s Kitchen Restaurant & Bakery, Baxter’s 1892, or Cypress Hall.

Things To Do
The bi-annual MCAS Cherry Point Air Show is a major aviation festival. This coming year features the Blue Angels, military demonstrations, and static aircraft displays. The next one is set for May 9-10, 2026.
Not only was New Bern the first capital of North Carolina, but it’s also the Birthplace of Pepsi-Cola. Step inside the Pepsi Store on Middle Street and discover how a local soda accident became a global icon.
Tryon Palace is a reconstructed 18th-century governor’s mansion with 16 acres of gardens and costumed interpreters. Great for early American history lovers. On the grounds is the North Carolina History Center at Tryon Palace, ideal for families.
Civil War enthusiasts will enjoy the New Bern Civil War Battlefield Park. It’s 30 acres of preserved battlefield filled with trails and informative signs.
140 acres of riverfront park at Lawson Creek Park and the waterfront Union Point Park, with its perfect photo-op gazebo, are great places to stretch your legs and breathe in a little nature.
Local history abounds in three Museums here: New Bern Historical Society, New Bern Fireman’s Museum, and the African American Heritage & Culture Center. Any of those will give you the story of the Great Fire of 1922, when a quarter of the population, mostly African Americans, lost their homes.
For the fishmen among you, an hour’s drive in mid-June will land you in Moorehead City. Home of the Big Rock Blue Marlin Tournament, one of the largest and most prestigious sportfishing events in the U. S.
