Newport News/Williamsburg International Airport (PHF) is a public, towered airport located approximately 4 miles NW of the town center of Newport News, Virginia. This airport was formerly known as Patrick Henry Field. There are two runways as follows:

While there is commercial traffic and a terminal on this field, two great FBOs keep the GA side running smoothly:

Rick Aviation Local full‑service FBO providing Jet‑A and 100LL, maintenance, avionics support, hangar space, and line services. oxygen service, pilot lounge, and passenger facilities available.
In addition, Aery Aviation provides services on this field. They specialize in aircraft modification and engineering.
Transportation
Crew cars are available here, along with rental cars from either FBO. Additionally, you can rent a car inside the commercial terminal through Avis, Budget, Hertz, Enterprise, and National.
Several nearby hotels offer complimentary Newport News/Williamsburg International Airport shuttles, and both Uber and Lyft operate here with designated pickup areas outside the terminal. Local taxi service is available, with limited curbside staging during peak airline arrivals. However, ratings are extremely inconsistent.

Closest: If you want to stay as close to the airport as possible, the Comfort Inn Newport News–Hampton or the Comfort Suites Airport are a little over a mile from the terminal and are the most convenient options for quick overnights or early flights.
For something with a little more character, The Lodge at Kiln Creek Resort, with an 18-hole golf course and on-site dining, would be a great choice.
If you’re keeping an eye on budget, the Microtel Inn & Suites by Wyndham Newport News Airport, the Red Roof Inn Newport News – Yorktown, and the Newport News Inn sit within a few minutes of the terminal and offer simple, practical stays.
Things To Do
If you want an aviation‑focused stop, the Virginia Air & Space Science Center in Hampton is the standout. It’s close to PHF and mixes aircraft, spacecraft, and hands‑on exhibits in a way that works for both aviation buffs and families. Just down the road, Air Power Park adds a quick outdoor look at Cold War jets and missiles, which makes an easy add‑on if you’re already in the area.
Back in Newport News, the Mariners’ Museum and USS Monitor Center offer one of the region’s strongest general‑interest experiences, and it’s only a short drive from the airport. If you prefer something outdoors, Newport News Park gives you miles of trails and quiet space, while Huntington Park brings you river views, a beach area, and the always‑popular Fort Fun playground.

Newport News/Williamsburg International Airport is a small, easy airport that gets you on the road fast. It sits right on Jefferson Avenue, close to hotels, dining, and the Kiln Creek area, and it’s a convenient starting point for exploring Newport News, Hampton, historical Yorktown, and Williamsburg without the traffic of the larger airports.
Just an aside, there is no restaurant in the terminal, but Jefferson Avenue has so many choices, you won’t go hungry.
