Float Planes-Sunday FunDay Oct. 4, 2026

Float Planes
Floatplanes were invented so airplanes could land on water in places where there were no runways at all. People needed a way to reach towns, forests, islands, and fishing areas that didn’t have airports, so they added floats to the bottom of airplanes to help them land on lakes and calm rivers.
Many floatplanes start as regular airplanes, but instead of wheels, they get floats attached. The floats act like long, skinny boats that let the airplane sit on top of the water.
